A Newbie's Guide On Where And How Much Jewelry To Wear

On what places or occasions can you flaunt your elegant jewelry pieces? How much of the stuff should you really be wearing? These are the questions this page seeks to answer. Without further adieu, read on and stop guessing.

• DATES. Depending on the kind of date you're attending, wearing jewelry is usually a great way to impress your date and draw his attention away from or to some selected body parts. You can also use jewelry to give your date a clue on your taste for luxurious goods.

Jewelry pieces are virtually useless when you're going to a movie date. In most cases, a wrist watch will do. However, when you're primping for a formal dinner date, select your accessories carefully. Your aim is to enhance your image, and not to make the jewelry pieces the center of your conversation or the cause for insecurities. A sophisticated necklace might earn you a compliment or two, but a complete set of expensive jewelry might just scare your date away and make him feel insecure about his financial capacity to continue seeing a rich woman.

• WALKS AT THE PARK. Whether you're out there to walk your dogs, to jog, to read a book under the shade of a tree, or to pass time by observing people, you appreciate the leisure and relaxation parks have to offer. To gauge if and how much jewelry you will wear, consider the security of the area as well as your activities. When occasional snatchings have been reported, wear as little jewelry as possible to avoid attracting the attention of petty but all the same criminal elements. Wearing jewelry also sounds like a bad idea when you anticipate to get all sweaty and dirty outdoors; you may just end up damaging the pieces you're wearing.

• WEDDINGS. There's no other perfect occasion to flaunt what you've got than wedding parties. If you're invited to one, dress up and accessorize to your heart's content. No one's going to stare at you and tell you that you look a bit “off” with your attire. Wedding parties are always a valid excuse to look glamorous with jewelry pieces.

• WORK. The jewelry that you are tolerated or allowed to wear basically depends upon the policies in place at your work area. If you're employed in a kitchen of a fast food chain or a classy restaurant, forget about wearing flashy necklaces, bracelets and dangling earrings and rings. Rules can even be stricter if you work in a laboratory. In regular desk jobs, modesty is the key. Although no tight restrictions apply, all that you might want to wear includes a watch and your wedding ring (if you're married).

Weddings, work, dates and walks at the park are not the only occasions when you decide to wear jewelry. Now, deciding how much jewelry to wear is more of a matter of personal preference and judgment. The principles you get from the above examples should be enough to help you reach the correct decision.
